LGBT: Parenthood and children?

If you're a woman who wants a child with her genes but you don't want to actually get pregnant and bear the child yourself, you can donate some of your eggs. The eggs would be harvested from your ovary in a minor medical procedure, put in a test tube and mixed with sperm from a sperm donor (either anonymously donated sperm from a sperm bank or fresh sperm from a male friend or acquaintance). This is called "in vitro" fertilization. One or more of the fertilized eggs -- now embryos -- can then be implanted into your partner's uterus for her to carry and eventually bear the child.
