Looking for an old RPG computer game?

I have been wracking my brain trying to remember the name of an old RPG computer game I used to play when I was a kid, probably in the mid-late 1990s. I believe it was for Macintosh (but I could be wrong, it might be PC), and I believe it was shareware. It was a pretty typical computer RPG with a top-down view. You had a party of characters and explored the map, there was a turn-based combat system, and a lot of cool items you could pick up and equip on your guys. But, the thing that I remember most were the crazy sound effects, like crashing swords, blazing fire, and the death croaks of the enemies. Seems like every time you did something like equip an item you would hear that sword crash. Anyways, if anyone could help with the name of the game, or better yet a place to download it, that would be awesome. Thanks.
